My coworker that helped me with that basement thing this week his brakes were grinding. We peeked at it during the week and the bass seemed worn. So here we are. The drivers side was missing one pad altogether, the other pad was cracked and falling out. He just found out he’ll be working 2.5 hours away Monday morning.
New pad next to partial pad. Kids these days. He hit a guard rail on the highway after some rain and bent some shit up. So this is probably why his windshield wipers don’t work.

Man... that looks brutal. Was that due to junk-quality pads?

I want to say it was from hittin the guard rail in the rain, but can’t be sure. It’s only got 100,000 miles, the passenger sidenpads were probably 3/4 good, so possibly the caliper was stuck. He actually doesn’t drive the car much.

Unfortunately there are NO brake pads that last 100,000 miles. Also, the wear indicators installed on the pads would have been making a squeeki ng or squealing sound a long time before they got to this stage. Just poor overall example of no preventive maintenance or inspection being performed.

With the passenger side more than 1/2 left, I think the “run into guardrail in the rain” is the culprit for the damage.
